A small curio I dredged up while doing some research online here in Oz a few years ago: a listing for the April 26, 1989 Death/Dark Angel gig in the Elyria, Ohio, Chronicle Telegram (USA, March 26, 1989). It's funny how they mentioned Chuck as an ex-Slaughter (Canada) member. He was probably ticked off about that, as he wasn't really in Slaughter for more than a coupla weeks tops.

Good memories of Chuck Schuldiner

The musician Perry Grayson is a big fan of Chuck's and crossed paths with many people in the Death and Control Denied family tree over the years. He has a very valuable historical collection and is sharing with us. Perry, that's awesome! This picture is a rare stuff.

Curiosity: Chuck's name

Schuldiner family

 Chuck's name - Charles Michael - was a tribute to the grandfather of Mal Schuldiner,. Mal is the father of the legendary guitarist. In almost every interview, Mrs. Jane Schuldiner, Chuck's mother, tells how he was a happy child and as Schuldiner's family struggled to provide the best for their children. It really is a beautiful pathway!

Curiosity: "How much money Chuck earned from Death?"

Definitely, money isn't the most important thing for some people. Chuck was that proof.

Hobo (Death's fan): Do you know how much money Chuck earned from Death? From an earlier interview I remember him saying it wasn't much, but do you know how much someone as successful as him made in a largely underground scene?

Jane Schuldiner (Chuck's mom): No, I do not. I will say his greatest rewards in his career were not financial, though he lived very comfortably.

What about that Chuck´s amulet he used in his neck. What does it mean? [Schmidt]

Jane Schuldiner - I know that the amulet comes from the sea and that it was his favorite since he was wearing it in almost every picture, but I don't know the significance of that. I wish I had asked him. I'm trying to find more information on it.

Can you name some jobs that Chuck had before he made a living as a musician? I am curious to know what things in his life had an impact on his music writing. [Doug]

Jane Schuldiner: In his early teens Chuck worked at a place by the name of Dell Taco, at least I think that was the name. He worked there for just a few months. He hated it with a passion! Since he was very involved with his music by that time, we asked him to just concentrate on that.

Evil Chuck: Early days

Like many of us, Chuck enjoyed spending his free time involved with musical activities. Who hasn't spend some time looking for CDs, vinyl, K7s, DVDS or a rare shirts of the favorite bands? Chuck also enjoyed it especially when he was younger. The Death TR heard about this from Eric Greif.

"In the early days, his favorite place to go would be a record shop - always looking to buy rare vinyl. In his latter days, his home studio is where he'd spend his spare time", said Greif.

Curiosity

Chuck Schuldiner had a very close relationship with nature and everything else around him. One of Charle's passions were the animals. He rescued dogs and cats that were in risk. He was very affectionated to his pets. To him, they were also his friends.

Curiosity: How tall was Chuck

Chuck: Story to tell

It could look just like an ordinary curiosity, but many people still speculating how tall was Chuck in the foruns and websites around the internet. Eric Greif, ex-manager of Death and Chuck's eternal friend gave us the answer: Chuck had 5' 10 1/2". In the Brazilian system of measurement this is equivalent to 1 m and 79 cm. This means that Chuck was a relatively tall guy.

For many people, it could look silly, but to the ones who didn't live together with Chuck, this is like satiating a curiosity about a character, a taste, a sound or a vision they will never have, just hear. And even like that it still being important feelings.
