DEATH: Human 20th Anniversary Remix Complete

Sean, Paul, Scott and Chuck: Human team

From Empty Words

Producer/engineer Jim Morris from Morrisound Recording Studios in Tampa, Florida has just finished remixing the legendary 1991 album from DEATH called Human.

"An awesome experience for me," Morris comments. "We were contacted by Chuck Schuldiner's intellectual property lawyer Eric Greif, the former manager of DEATH. Human will be reissued in 2011 internationally in a partnership between Relapse Records and Perseverance Holdings Ltd. The reissue will mark the 20th anniversary of the original release of Human on Relativity/Sony and will include loads of extras, including DEATH's cover of 'God of Thunder' by KISS." [more news]

Eric Greif says: "The former DEATH guys Paul Masvidal, Sean Reinert and Steve DiGiorgio are all 'ecstatic' about the prospect of a heavier mix, where all the instruments can be heard and modern technology utilized. Jim said he took into account everything he & Chuck agreed upon during the making of Symbolic and Perseverance as his guide for what he believed Chuck would want from such a remix. I myself am thrilled."

Human was Death's best selling album in the US moving over 100,000 units and hitting the Billboard Heatseekers Chart at #34, unprecedented for its time.

Symbolic Memory

"I will not feed your hunger, instead I bite the pain looking not back, but forward. I bite down hard, try to cover up the trail of deceit and daggers spawned from your soul..." - Bite The Pain (Chuck Schuldiner/The Sound Of Perseverance - Death 1998).

Fan Words: "Chuck really is a genius of his time"

Chuck Schuldiner: Good job, great soul!

By Garry Turner (Art of Hate)

When I first heard about Chuck... He was doing the Human album, and at the time It blew my mind that metal could sound so orchestrated. When I met Chuck he was doing the Sound Of Perserverance album and then I realized how metal was becoming a pretty big monster.

One of my favourite Death songs with Chuck in mind would be...

Voice of Soul!

This song just really covered all the melodic guitar sounds of the time. Chuck was able to add several guitar tracks to really add a big sound to the already heavy sound of the time.

Chuck Could minipulate his voice to the guitar and the music and he really is a genius of his time. Death was in a class of their own , there was so much going on in their music, you really had to listen to it many times to grasp everything and I think that is what drew me into Death, they really challenged my mind to actually listen to the music.

Chuck’s Schulinder’s words where important for the time they reflected how metal was growing , changing and falling apart. Death still finds a following and the recent revival of the death logo and shirts has really put Death into realms of the new metal and still stands on its own.

Chuck Memories: Chuck Schuldiner and his fans around the world (special)

Story to Tell: Paws of Death

Hey guys! What's up? Eric Greif's(Schuldiner lawyer & former manager of DEATH) daughter (Anna Greif) did a great video about Death and Chuck. Eric said: "Just something my 10 year old Anna came up with today. Considering her friends probably listen to Britney Spears, I must be doing something right. ;)" Yes, Eric. You are doing right.
